Kitty Pryde is back!!

Uncanny X-Men #322 marks the return of Kitty Pryde aka Shadowcat. For those that don't know, Kitty "sacrificed" herself at the end of Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men run. The inhabitants of the Breakworld had sent a giant metal bullet straight at Earth (really scary to think about, it doesn't take a bomb to destroy the world, just a large rock sent from space) and Kitty was the only one able to save it. She phased it and the bullet kept going thru the Earth and on into space and beyond, where it phased thru other planets (as beautifully shown in the back-up in this issue).

So Kitty is a hero countless times over.

Magneto, wanting to show the X-Men that he has seen the error of his ways, uses his powers to bring the bullet back to Earth and destroys it, freeing Kitty. His way of apologizing.

Of course, this being comics, things don't go exactly as planned.

But the issue itself?

First the bad.

The art. I USED to be a Whilce Portacio fan. His stuff now, not so much. Why couldn't the Dodsons have done this issue? It would have been a thousand times better. His art is the only bad part.

The good? The rest of it.

Faction does a great job of showing how excited all the X-Men are at the idea of getting Kitty back. It shows, without telling, just how important she is to the team and mutants in general. He makes you really feel bad for Kitty, that she's stuck as she is after all this time and finally returning home.

It'll be interesting to see what Faction does with Kitty after Second Coming, how he gets her out of the problem she's having right now.

And I can't wait for the Lockheed/Kitty reunion.

I'm a huge Kitty Pryde fan and am glad she's back.
